What Are the Most Popular Supplement Plans?

Plans F, G, and N are the most popular Medicare Supplements because they leave you with little to no out-of-pocket costs. Below is a short summary of what each plan covers.

Plan F

Plan F is the most comprehensive supplement plan. However, it’s only available to those who were eligible for Medicare before January 1, 2020. New beneficiaries will find that Plan G is a good alternative to F, and it could save you hundreds of dollars in premiums.

What makes Plan F the most comprehensive plan? It has the most benefits by definition, covering both the Part A and Part B deductibles, and all copayments and coinsurance — so you pay nothing out of pocket.

Plan G

Those who became eligible for Medicare on or after January 1, 2020, will see that Plan G is the most comprehensive supplement plan available. It covers your Medicare Part A hospital deductible and coinsurance, an extra year of hospital benefits, hospice care, and the first three pints of blood, and foreign travel emergency coverage up to the plan’s limit. If you enroll in Plan G, you’ll be responsible for the Part B deductible.

The benefits for Plan G policies will be the same across insurance companies. But the prices will vary from company to company, and that’s where we come in.

Plan N

Plan N is a good option for Florida seniors who want to pay a lower premium in return for paying a small yearly deductible and some copayments. Plan N covers many items in the hospital, including: the Part A deductible and your coinsurance, an extra year of hospital benefits after Medicare’s benefits run out, hospice care, and the first three pints of blood, PLUS foreign travel emergency coverage up to the plan’s limit.
